We conducted a survey at Michigan State University to get an idea of men's attitudes towards STDs and safe sex. Surveys were distributed online to various college males, and data was compiled and illustrated on the graph below.

A majority of our sample has had sex with at least one partner, while six had sex with 10 or more partners. This shows very risky sexual behavior.

This is good news. A majority of our sample stated that they know or ask their sexual partner about their sexual history. This shows that men are aware of STDs as a problem, but as you will see, they don't take proper precautions or seek medical care.

These results may look good, but using a condom "only when available" is not as safe as it may seem. Among college students, drinking and drug use are common and a condom may not always be available. Individuals make worse decisions when they are under the influence of a substance.

These results show the real problem we are trying to address. 32 of our 40 subjects have never been tested for an STD. A majority of the individuals not getting tested commented that they just "haven't gotten around to it," or currently believe they do not have an STD because they do not notice any symptoms.
